Incorporated in June 2001, Clean Energy was formed by the combined assets of three industry leaders — Pickens Fuel Corp., Terasen (formerly BC Gas) and Westport Innovations. Formerly known as Pickens Fuel, Clean Energy embodies the initial vision of Boone Pickens, a leading advocate of vehicular natural gas and instrumental participant in clean-air transportation.

In creating Clean Energy, Pickens Fuel joined forces with Terasen, one of British Columbia’s key providers of energy and utility services, and Westport Innovations, leading-edge developers of natural gas fueling systems. Today, Clean Energy is the largest provider of vehicular natural gas for fleets and related turnkey services in North America. Clean Energy services an ever-expanding customer base with state-of-the-art natural gas fueling stations strategically located across the U.S. and Canada. Clean Energy currently designs, operates, maintains and supports natural gas fueling stations for tens of thousands of fleet vehicles, including refuse, taxi, shuttle, transit, airport and trucking fleets. Volume growth at existing stations (“same store”) exceeded 40% in 2004.
